Colony Brands President and CEO receives Distinguished Service Award
ohn Baumann, President and CEO of Colony Brands, was recently awarded the Distinguished Service Award from the UW-Madison School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
The Distinguished Service Award is given to journalism school graduates for significant contributions in journalism and mass communication. The award recognized Baumann’s leadership in making Colony Brands one of the largest and most successful consumer catalog and e-commerce companies in the United States, as well as his commitment to the Wisconsin Idea.
Baumann is a 1982 graduate of The University of Wisconsin with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Journalism. In 1985 he received his Master of Business Administration degree from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. This year, Baumann is celebrating 35 years at Colony Brands, headquartered in Monroe, Wisconsin. He is actively involved with several community organizations including the Board of Directors for the Monroe Arts Center and the Monsignor Thomas F Campion Charitable Foundation.
In addition, Baumann currently serves on the board of directors of the University of Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA), as well as the board of visitors of the UW School of Veterinary Medicine. He and his wife, Katie, also a UW-Madison graduate, founded the Inspiration Project which awards two scholarships for Monroe High School students attending the University of Wisconsin.
